State Fair MOC MOC Photos
Around June of 2016, I had decided to start working on a State Fair MOC. I had purchased the
LEGO® Ferris Wheel set #10247 some time earlier, and it got me thinking about all parts of a
Fair that I knew I could build. I had a lot of animals, so the 4H and FFA areas would be a cinch.
The hot dogs, pretzels, pies, and ice creams would all work perfectly, too.
I was absolutely thrilled when LEGO® announced they would be releasing the Friends Amusement Park sets
in August. I bought them all as soon as they came out. Here are a few photos, showing how it has
grown and changed since I started building it. I will put up more photos when I can, but for now
at least these give you an idea of how it looks. Click on a photo to see a larger image.

The first showing was at Brick Fest LIVE Pasadena in August 2015, the Fair was approx. 5 feet by 6-2/3 feet. It was mostly sets, many
that most people had never seen before. I included some of the newly released minifig babies--including two in a twin stroller.
The only ride that was motorized was the Fairground Mixer; we had to use the hand cranks to make the other rides move.
I was working hard to try to figure out how to motorize the Friends roller coaster.

BricksLA January 2017. Size: approx. 5 feet by 8 feet. Unable to motorize the roller coaster, I replaced it with several midway booths,
a couple food trucks, and separate "big kid" and "kiddie" ride areas. I also added an Exhibition Hall,
the 4H and FFA animal pens, and the Budweiser Clydesdales.

In August 2017, we went to Bricks By The Bay in northern Calif. MOC Size: approx. 5 feet by 16-2/3 feet. I had added the new Carousel,
a monorail around the Fair, (computerized, with lights, sensors, software, and some much needed straight monorail track, from www.4Dbrix.com).
Large & small working roller coasters, (from www.BrickCoaster.com), and several other new rides, including a Super Slide and a small motorcycle
carousel were scatterd around the fairgrounds. I added lots of new game booths, plus a food court and the VERY popular porta-potties.
The large roller coaster had collapsed on the ride up and I was unable to rebuild it, but being in San Francisco, there was a simple
solution--we just put a sign on the ride which read: Ride closed due to earthquake. It was a big hit!

In October 2017 we at BrickCon in Seattle, WA once again- The MOC was pretty much the same as it had been at
Bricks By The Bay, except that everything worked. Both roller coasters, the Ferris Wheel, the monorail,
the Fairground Mixer. Even the Carousel
worked--only it tended to overheat the motor. There were more than 13,300 visitors over the weekend,
and my State Fair MOC finished
Fifth in the votes for the Peoples Choice Award.

Back at BricksLA in January 2018, we displayed the Fair MOC again; and now it is 5 feet wide by 24 feet long. New for this year are a
Super Hero Speedway, (a car race ride), a large Super Slide, a second Exhibition Hall, and the iconic Cyclone roller coaster,
(from www.CDXblocks.com), which contains NO
actual LEGO® elements, but WOW does it go fast!
BricksLA is not yet as large as BrickCon, there were only a few more than 5,00 visitors over the weekend, but this time,
my State Fair MOC finsihed a very close Second Place for the Peoples Choice Award.

When I have more time, I will post more photos of my State Fair MOC, including
close ups of the various rides and other attractions. In the meantime,
be sure to check out my Civil War Battle and my Boy Scout Summer Camp MOCS.
